About Us
Pinhills Scientific are conveniently based in the UK midlands. We offer a range of services at very competative rates. Pinhills Scientific has been formed by Jim McKinley after the dissolution of PC Analytical which traded successfully for eleven years providing software, service and updates for a range of spectrometers. The trend of developing meaningful updates has been addressed and is being maintained, we no longer offer Dos based updates as we consider this technology very old and not in keeping with today's technology.
We have invested heavily and have recruited engineers. We do not subcontract work to any other engineers. We are carrying a large stock of spectrometers and spares. We also carry stocks of Xray tubes and Vacuum pumps. We do not run our business from a car boot or a garage. We have full facilities to run Xray and Optical Emission systems in our workshops and offices including argon supplies and sample preparation. If you purchase an instrument from us, you will be able to see it in operation before you decide.
Pinhills operates from it's own 130 acre site in rural Worcestershire close to the village of Inkberrow half way between the county town of Worcester and Stratford on Avon. We have extensive workshop facilities and also operate our own transport vehicles and have demonstration areas for equipment.
After PC Analytical, it was decided that a new type of update was required, that is, an update that would address all obsolescence issues on spectrometers. We spent 12 months developing a CCD based update that in one fell swoop, eliminated photomultipliers, HV and 100v power supplies, obsolete measuring systems and allowed up to 3,500 element lines to be available to every instrument. This meant that the hitherto expensive procedure of adding new element lines at several thousands of pounds became an easy task.
